In addition to our Frog Street Curriculum, as part of our Enrichment program, we are studying Hawaii. Last week the classes made Leis and this week they are studying sea turtles. 

 We had farm animals visit our school today. Learning about animals is vital for preschool children because it nurtures their curiosity, empathy, and understanding of the world around them. Here's why:

• Building Connection to Nature: Animals are fascinating creatures, and teaching kids about them helps foster a love and appreciation for the natural world.

• Encouraging Empathy: By learning about how animals live, their needs, and their behaviors, children develop compassion and a sense of responsibility toward living beings.

• Boosting Cognitive Skills: Observing and discussing animals encourages critical thinking and expands vocabulary. It can also spark questions that lead to deeper learning.

• Developing Emotional Awareness: Animals often evoke strong feelings—joy, curiosity, or even concern. Engaging with these emotions can help children understand and process their own feelings.

• Creating Multidisciplinary Learning: Lessons about animals often connect to science, art, geography, and storytelling, offering well-rounded educational experiences.

Whether they're learning about the chirping birds outside or the lions in faraway savannas, animals are an exciting gateway to exploring the wonders of life. 

 As part of our Academy Curriculum, science experiments are a fantastic way for preschoolers to learn about wind because they help make abstract concepts more tangible and understandable. Here are a few reasons why they are especially beneficial:

1. Hands-on Learning: Preschoolers learn best through direct, hands-on experiences. By doing simple experiments, like flying a kite or using a fan to create wind, they can physically see and feel the effects of wind, making the concept more real and memorable.

2. Encourages Curiosity: Young children are naturally curious. Science experiments allow them to ask questions like "Why does the paper move when the fan is on?" or "How can we make the wind stronger?" This curiosity is key to developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

3. Engages Multiple Senses: Science experiments involving wind often engage multiple senses (sight, touch, hearing). For example, children may feel the breeze, see the movement of objects, or hear the sound of wind, helping them understand wind from different perspectives.

4. Builds Language Skills: Discussing the experiment helps children expand their vocabulary. They learn new words like "breeze," "gust," "blow," "windmill," and "direction," enhancing their communication skills.

5. Promotes Exploration and Observation: Through experiments, children practice observing how wind affects different objects. They might notice that a light object like a feather moves differently than a heavy object like a rock, helping them understand the properties of wind in a fun, exploratory way.

6. Stimulates Creativity: Many science experiments with wind, such as building a wind-powered toy or a pinwheel, involve creative activities that boost a child’s imagination and motor skills.

7. Introduces Scientific Thinking: Preschoolers start to grasp the idea of cause and effect. For instance, when they notice that the wind moves a pinwheel, they begin to understand that wind is a force that can cause things to move.

Through these hands-on experiences, preschoolers develop foundational skills in science and problem-solving, and they get excited about learning in a fun, interactive way!

I am excited to share with you that this past Saturday, the Academy of Mt. Juliet held a company-wide training session designed to further enhance the skills and knowledge of our dedicated staff. This training was an important part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible education and support for your child.

During the training, our team engaged in a variety of professional development activities that will help us better serve our students and create a more enriching learning environment. From improving teaching strategies to enhancing communication and teamwork, we are constantly striving to strengthen our practices to ensure every child receives the highest quality education.

Valentine's Spirit Week has been full of Valentine's PJs, wearing hearts, Valentine colors, and dress-to-impress days. Our kiddos looked absolutely adorable all week. 💕💗💕

 As part of our winter focus on Fitness Fanatics, Pre-K 2 learned and practice some yoga poses. Practicing yoga with children offers numerous benefits. It helps improve physical health by enhancing flexibility, strength, and coordination. Yoga also promotes mental well-being, aiding in stress reduction, boosting concentration, and fostering a sense of calm and relaxation. For children, it can be particularly beneficial in developing self-discipline and emotional regulation. Integrating yoga into a regular routine can establish healthy habits early on, contributing to their overall development and well-being.
